FIFA World Cup 2014: Ribery out of the tournament

Following up yesterday’s shock news from the Russian camp, Fabio Capello has dropped his captain 32-year-old Roman Shirokov, though the replacement hasn’t been announced yet.

As for today, we have chosen 5 of the most interesting global stories related to the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

 5. The older fans would probably remember
Marc Degryse, the former Anderlecht and Sheffield Wednesday player with a nickname of The Little One. So this gentleman of Belgian decent has suggested his countryman and national team coach Marc Wilmots to… drop Eden Hazard. In the interview to the World Cup official homepage the former Belgian international has expressed his concerns about the Chelsea playmaker’s recent form, recalling his lousy game in the Champions League semifinal and in the matches ever since. Marc Wilmots and the rest of Belgium have their own slightly different point of view on this issue, however.

4. We are not leaving the Chelsea-topic, as the London team coach Jose Mourinho has decided to entertain himself fooling the poor American internet users. Yahoo has suggested The Special One to be its expert on the World Cup and has received a positive answer. Even more, the company has managed to get Mourinho’s predictions for the World Cup outcome, where the England-based Portuguese has confirmed that England and Portugal are going to meet in the final, beating likes of Brazil and Argentina in the quarterfinals and leaving Germany against Italy for the 3rd place match.

3. The revenue of the World Cup 2014 in Brazil is going to approach 4,5 billion dollars, as the FIFA official Jerome Valcke announced. Half of the pleased Brazilian protesters were on their way home after such an announcement, as the FIFA Chairman Sepp Blatter made the other half join them, proudly announcing that nothing is going to destroy the positive World Cup mood in Brazil as soon as the tournament kicks off. Now that’s what I call making a nation happy.

Mario Balotelli arriving at Brazil 2. But Mourinho and Blatter are still funny pickles compared to Mario Balotelli. The Milan forward has now posted a picture on his twitter, where he compares himself to… rather take a look at the picture. The Italian superstar has also commented the controversial picture, writing mysteriously: “Brasil, we are coming” right after putting signs of a crying face, two hands put together, one finger and then two fingers. The message hidden behind the picture and the mystifying signs will probably be revealed after several decades.

Franck Ribery is out of Didier Deschamps' France squad

1. However, the most serious and unpleasant news are from the French camp. Frank Ribery, the best player in the world 2013, not taking into account Ronaldo and Messi, has been removed from Didier Deschamps final squad. The Bayern winger was joined by Clement Grenier of Lyon. Both of the players have to spend their some time in front of their screens, watching football and recovering after bad injuries. Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton and Remy Cabella of Montpellier.

Let’s hope that these are going to be the last news telling about injuries among the World Cup participants.

About Me

My photo
I am a professional football watcher. I watched the WC '94, when I was 10 years old and have had no success in quitting with this. I promised R. Baggio to give tribute to his Juventus and Italy team ever-since, as he missed that damned penalty. While watching matches I always try to analyze every fact before, during and after the matches. This makes me feel I am an expert. Everyone is welcome to start a conversation on any football-related topic. You would just make me a huge favour. Besides, I am a hopelessly lost gambler. A player, not only in the game, but also in life! I live in Denmark. I am married, which, of course, prevents me of watching football 24 hours a day. My daughter was born in 2011. This fact is neither a football-friendly one, but it does not disappoint me. I am making my first steps in professional scouting with one of the local companies. If this profile sounds something close to you, I would warmly welcome you to follow my blog, where you'll read about everything I mentioned above. I promise to post an article every week. Let's say Saturday. So here we go!
